Arsene Wenger hailed Arsenal's spirit as they secured a 2-0 advantage after the first leg of their Champions League qualifier against Sparta Prague.

He said: "It was a very physical game. Sparta played with a total commitment in the first half and stopped us from playing. We needed to be patient.
